the pensive angler

fishing with j Baytown, TX

I love sneaking up on him with a camera. I don't get to do it very often, but when he's in his zone and I can catch him off guard, he strikes some mature poses for a boy his age. Very intense.

Patience can be in short supply when you're young and nothing tests that more than fishing. I never did it much as a kid, I didn't care to spend that much quiet time with those who would take me. The Now is different. I treasure the time together and the routine, the motions, the wait. I'm perfectly happy not catching anything. A good thing too since that's the case more often than not.

And yes, j caught a fish this day, and everyone we saw on the way out knew it. And that's cool.
