![]() Gun and Ink Deer Park, TX There's a lot here that tugs at me in different ways. My brother, of course. The Saturday Night Special he's holding, given to my grandmother by my late grandfather for protection. The doorway, where I put my hand through a pane of glass trying to rush in when I was spooked in the dark. I cut my right wrist wide open and can still here my mother in the kitchen, washing dishes, yell 'What the hell did you do?' Of course her mood changed when she saw me stuck on the remaining glass, leaving pools of kid blood on the concrete floor to stain forever. The white siding, put up by my dad onto this addition of the house. An addition, never square or plumb, that was added to the house originally built by my late grandfather. One of the first homes built in what's now called Shell City in Deer Park. (The part he built is square and plumb 'til the cows come home.) And you thought it was just a goofy photo of my brother with a junk gun. In no way should grandma's Italian 4-barrel Derringer undermine the implied machismo. - Entropy. | |
