![]() Texas Women's Hospital, Houston, TX She's here! Saturday, August 26th, 2006 - 6:15pm 8lb 7oz 20 inches long. The mild insanity began Friday night with a urinary tract infection sending Robin into a false labor. About 9pm we headed out the door, only to find her car's batter dead. Awesome. So we drove to the hospital in my bumpy pickup much to her chagrin. As I said, the labor was false. She was given antibiotics and we were sent home at 2am. Saturday morning, 6am after hardly any sleep, it was Round 2. No falsities this time. The battery was covered in acid, cleaned it off with Coke (I will NEVER drink that again), got the car jumped and down to Firestone to replace the battery, ran home to wash the battery acid and under-hood grime off of me, got her in the car and we were to the hospital by 1pm. As labor goes, it was fast, with only 45 minutes of serious pushing. The doctor and tech showed up fast, as did her dinner which the labor nurse was kind enough to pre-order before the cafeteria closed. And that's where words lose their significance. All the waiting, planning, waiting, praying, waiting...and we were blessed with an extremely quick delivery. I will never forget this experience. Coaching the pushing, cutting the cord, and ultimately having the labor nurse ask me 'Where's your camera?' Her big brother is VERY excited to meet her this Friday. He's been prepping for Shaye for months now, carrying the cat around the house cradled in his arms. As much as I know he won't be disappointed by his little sister, Shaye will have a superb big brother watching out for her. | |
